About Us
Welcome to the Jackson Central Appraisal District (JCAD). Jackson Central Appraisal District is responsible for local property appraisal and exemption administration for sixteen jurisdictions or taxing units in the county. Each taxing unit, such as the county, a city, school district, etc. sets its own tax rate to generate revenue to pay for their services provided. Property appraisals are determined by the appraisal district and used by the taxing units to calculate and allocate the annual taxes. JCAD also administers and determines eligibility for various types of property tax exemptions that are authorized by state and local governments, such as those for homeowners, the elderly, disabled persons, disabled veterans, and charitable or religious organizations.
Jackson Central Appraisal District employs the chief appraiser, assistant chief appraiser, administrative assistant, field appraisers, and deed clerks. JCAD appraisers are registered and licensed through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
